01 The name

Three roots, one foundation.

Shinoki is not a dictionary word. It is a compound of three authentic Japanese roots, chosen for what they mean together.

Our mark is a hanko — the square seal used in Japan to sign, approve and promise. Look closer and it spells our name.

02 Philosophy

Imperfect, impermanent, incomplete.

Wabi-sabi is the Japanese eye for beauty in what is imperfect, impermanent and incomplete. We use it as a working method. Nothing is finished, so we build what can be repaired and extended. Nothing lasts, so we invest in the part that must: the foundation. Nothing is perfect, so we begin, listen, and refine.

  • Sabi The beauty that time adds. Patina over polish.
  • Kintsugi Repair with gold. Our mistakes become part of the story.
